Robinson Consultants Inc. is an employee-owned Canadian multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm providing professional engineering services to public and private sector organizations since 1977.

To meet the diverse needs of government and industry clients, Robinson Consultants Inc. employs a highly qualified team of managers, engineers, and technical staff who have experience in various engineering disciplines, including:

Our History

Robinson Consultants Inc., was founded in 1977 as AJ Robinson and Associates by Andy Robinson, P.Eng., FEC.

For the first few years, our firm offered general municipal services. Under Andy’s leadership, we grew in size and specialty, expanding to offer a broader, more complete range of services. Andy led the firm for thirty-four years before transitioning ownership to current President Derek Potvin and becoming Chair of the Board of Directors in 2011.

With a larger staff base and broader range of services, Robinson Consultants Inc. has been able to offer our clients a more complete and cohesive project team. This has enabled our firm to earn more work, build a larger client base, and become a recognized name in the industry. In particular, the addition of trenchless technologies to our services has been widely successful and facilitated our expansion into the Greater Hamilton Area with our second office opening in Hamilton in 2011. Our third office opened in Kingston in 2016, specializing in engineering design services.

Under the leadership of our current President Derek Potvin, the firm has transitioned to a broad employee-owned firm, expanded our market presence and grown our staff complement to over 60 engineers, technologists, and support staff.

Strategic Plan

In February 2020, Robinson Consultants Inc. developed a Strategic Plan. The plan includes short and long-term objectives that positions us on a path for strong, sustainable growth and profitability. The plan will increase operational efficiency leading to improved day-to-day operations and will lay a strong foundation for future growth. All of this is to say that we are striving to be proactive, rather than reactive, so that we may continue to grow in a way that makes sense for us and stay at the forefront of our industry.

One of the key steps in the planning process is the reviewing and documenting of our firm’s culture, core values, mission and vision.
