Robinson Consultants is seeking a self-motivated Manager – Water Resources to join the collaborative and dynamic leadership team in our Ottawa office. This position is responsible for working on a and managing a team who work on a wide range of water resources design projects, and multi-disciplinary assignments for both private and public sector clients including, culvert design, surface drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater management, private development servicing, low impact development measures, municipal drains and natural watercourse restoration and rehabilitation design. As the leader of the Water Resources team, the duties will include, but are not limited to:

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain a positive working environment conducive to promoting teamwork, creativity, and positive morale.
  • Work independently and lead the projects as part of a team to define the problem, establish the scope of work, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction, oversight, rationale, and solutions.
  • Oversee the day-to-day department operations to ensure a balanced workload and that work is performed within established project schedules and budgets.
  • Ensure that all department goals, objectives and policies are effectively implemented
  • Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring career development to department staff
  • Assess and identify new opportunities for growth in current and prospective markets
  • Work with senior management to design business strategies and plans to meet the Company goals
  • Manage and supervise departmental staff and perform annual performance evaluations on direct reports
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Robinson’s Hamilton and Kingston Offices, and other engineering departments.
  • Liaise and build effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and subconsultants.
  • Work with the Vice President to develop and execute strategic growth of the Water Resources Group in the Ottawa area as well as business growth initiatives within the GTHA.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, quality control, support, and oversight of staff to complete various water resources related design tasks.

You should have:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) or 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or related field) or 2-year Diploma in Construction Engineering Technician
  • Current Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Current Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Current Certified Technician (C.Tech.)
  • 15 years or more of progressive engineering design experience including culvert design, surface drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, low impact development measures, and natural watercourse restoration and rehabilitation design. Superior client and interpersonal skills, combined with strong team and leadership abilities.
  • Up to date knowledge in the trends and changes in water resources infrastructure design.
  • Demonstrated experience with business development.
