Robinson Consultants is seeking an experience and self-motivated Contract Administrator to join the collaborative and dynamic team in our Ottawa office. As a Contract Administrator, you will work on a variety of engineering projects that may include roads and linear water and wastewater projects.

What you’ll be doing:

Under the supervision of the project manager and Manager of Construction Services, the Contract Administrator will:

  • Review and thoroughly understand contract drawings and documents, including participating in constructability reviews and provide feedback to the design team.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender packages including quantity take offs.
  • Prepare for, coordinate, and lead preconstruction, regular bi-weekly, and post construction meetings with clients, contractors, utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Review and understand relevant OPSS, municipal client specifications and contract special provisions.
  • Interpret requirements and details of contract drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect construction operations from time to time to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality and safety standards.
  • Prepare progress reports and maintain documentation.
  • Organize and maintain records of materials testing, quantities, and contractor performance related to site instructions and change orders.
  • Prepare electronic forms, records, progress payment documents, performance certificates, and other documentation along with issuance of all related correspondence.
  • Review and respond to requests for information, claims for extra, complaints, and other inquiries.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, the public, and others.

You should have:

  • Diploma in either Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technician program required. Road Construction Contract Administration (rcca) designation would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and construction principles,
  • standards, specifications, construction contract administration and scheduling.
  • 8 years or more of progressive experience in Ontario providing contract administration of municipal/provincial/federal infrastructure with a strong focus in roads, water & wastewater projects.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Fluent in all Microsoft Office software programs; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and OpenRoads experience would be an asset.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, client service and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Bilingual in French considered as asset.
  • Superior analytical, decision-making and negotiation skills.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of applicable Laws and Regulations including Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety and their application in construction projects.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance the delivery of multiple projects.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
  • A team player, motivated attitude willing to take on new challenges.
  • Previous working experience within an engineering environment (e.g., consulting engineering, heavy civil contractor, public sector engineering department, construction inspection) will be considered an asset.

The job entails performing most of the job duties within an office environment.  However, field work/site visits do form part of the expected job duties and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather, navigating safely within construction sites or within sites that have a physically challenging terrain.
