Robinson Consultants is seeking a self-motivated Project Manager to join our collaborative dynamic team in our Ottawa office. As a Project Manager, you will work on a variety of land development projects in the private and public sectors focussing on planning, designing and contract administration of Site Plans and Plans of Subdivision throughout Ontario. As a member of the Land Development Services team, the duties will include, but are not limited to:
What you’ll be doing:
- Work in collaboration as part of the team to lead, establish the scope of work, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction, oversight, rationale, and solutions.
- Provide project management on multiple projects during planning, design and contract administration phases including financial performance.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals.
- Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to junior staff.
- Prepare detailed project reports and proposals.
- Provide Civil3D design/draft support to meet deliverables and schedules as needed.
- Liaise and build effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and subconsultants.
- Perform other duties, relevant to the position, as necessary.
You should have:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) or 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or related field) or 2-year Diploma in Construction Engineering Technician
- Current Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Current Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Current Certified Technician (C.Tech.)
- 8 years or more of progressive engineering design experience including an understanding of the planning process for site plans and plans of subdivision applications, preparation of servicing studies and reports including domestic and fire flow requirements and calculations, full detailed engineering design packages including servicing and grading plans, the preparation of SWM and LID Reports and plans with knowledge of the MECP, Conservation Authority and LID design guidelines, preparation of contract documents for tendering, contract administration and final assumption and closeout of projects.
- 3 years or more of providing effective mentoring to less experienced engineers, technicians, or designers.
- Superior client communication and interpersonal skills, combined with strong team and leadership abilities.
- Experience with leading projects, including project management processes and procedures, involving budget and schedule management, earned value, project status reporting, etc.
- Familiarity with the principles and practices of civil engineering and especially equipment, processes, practices, and standards used in the design and construction of municipal infrastructure.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance diverse, changing, and conflicting priorities to meet short and long-term project milestones.
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment and demonstrated experience with database management, and other relevant design and drafting software (e.g., Civil3D, ArcGIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (bilingualism in English and French would be considered a strong asset).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
